AT&T Sends Email and Texts to “Unofficial” Tetherers

AT&T has started sending email and text messages to users they believe are using unofficial tether methods on their iPhones, according to iPhone community ModMyi.

Some folks who’ve received the messages, however, “don’t tether at all; it looks like AT&T is targeting users who have high data usage. As it turns out, [tethering app] MyWi shows up as 0 tether bytes” on your device’s data usage—which is to say, your iPhone isn’t recording MyWi activity as tethering. (Never used MyWi?
